It was the experience of a lifetime…

We are still trying to fully digest the wonderful day we had yesterday and will write a much more cohesive and detailed account in a few days. My husband and I are speechless and that is a hard feat!

It was the experience of a lifetime and Jay was the perfect Guide! I am so thrilled to be able to incorporate the stones left to me by both my beloved Grandmothers - that makes the experience that much more precious.

Thank you just seems inadequate and yet it will have to do for the moment.

We enjoyed every minute of the day…

Shawn and I want to thank you for the incredible wedding ring workshop experience last Friday! We enjoyed every minute of the day, learned so much, and are absolutely thrilled with the way our rings turned out.

It’s a good thing we have plenty of photos to document the process as we show off our rings to family and friends - even we can hardly believe that we did it! We appreciate so much all the time you took with us, from discussing exactly what we wanted, to patiently guiding us through each step of the process, to making sure every last detail of the rings was perfect. You made us feel completely at ease and comfortable from the minute we arrived. We feel very privileged to have had such a skilled and accomplished jeweler as our personal mentor in making our rings. It was such an interesting, unique, special, and enjoyable experience, and one we will never forget. Now Shawn and I not only have beautiful, one-of-a-kind rings, but also the amazing memories and meaning of making them for each other.

It’s hard to put into words the significance that these rings and the entire experience will always hold for us, but we really want to thank you for not only making it possible but also for making it even more enjoyable than we ever could’ve imagined. Don’t be surprised if we call you a few years down the road to see if you’ll help us make anniversary rings!

Thanks again! We will stay in touch and be sure to send you some photos when we finally get to exchange and wear our very special rings next October!

We’d like to have another wedding just so that we can come back

Before I found the Wedding Ring Workshop, I had been browsing rings on the internet for a while and showing them to my fiancé. At one point, he said that the ring he’d like most would be one that I made for him. Romantic as the thought was, I laughed and told him he’d have to wait a bit before I could learn how to be a jeweler and set up my own studio.

Then, I came across Wedding Ring Workshop. I arranged our day as a surprise to my fiancé and the experience we had was even more intimate, creative, fun, and meaningful than either of us had expected it to be !

We made our wedding bands this past weekend at the Wedding Ring Workshop in Whaley Studio in San Diego.

We walked into the studio to offers of coffee and a fruit platter and were later provided with lunch, a camera, and a bottle of champagne in a very comfortable setting.

From designing the rings to toasting with champagne, it was truly an experience that will stay with us for the rest of our lives.

Being able to make our rings for each other was priceless !

And a huge part of what made our day enjoyable was the jeweler whom we worked with, Jay Whaley. Jay worked with us through every step and down to the last detail to make sure that the rings were exactly what we imagined and that they turned out flawlessly !

No one believes that we actually made them, which makes the photographs that were taken at the studio very helpful. Jay was impressively informative; and our day was made even more interesting by Jay teaching us about the metals, their characteristics, and the process of jewelry making.

We’d like to have another wedding just so that we can come back !

It was a day we will never forget…

Was looking online for quite a while trying to find custom made wedding rings. I had found a few jewelers whom would customize jewelry for us or actually make it for us, but it just wasn’t custom enough for me.

We love handmade stuff and I love to make and build things too. So when I finally found A Wedding Ring Experience I was blown away… I get to make hers, she gets to make mine, are you kidding me ! Wow… I had never heard about this before, and now feel compelled to tell everyone I know that you can do this.

I managed to keep the idea a secret from her up until we were walking up to the shop in San Diego. As we walked up to the store, on the sidewalk, was a sign that said something like "Make each-others rings with your own hands". As we are walking up the stairs I hear her thinking out loud "with your own hands?" very muffled.

When we walked in and she saw the set-up of jewelry equipment she got so excited. then she got really nervous. She doesn’t know anything about it, and she is kinda a girly-girl. Then after about 1 minute of Jay, explaining to us the process, she got so excited again.

The first part of the ring process was design, and then to melting the 18k white gold. Right after she saw that she got nervous again, so she made me go first.

So I melted the gold, and as I went to pour the gold, I missed… raw hot gold spilled all over the table top. I got scared for a second and then realized it just cooled down, we put it back in the ceramic dish and melted it again, and I got it on the second try, it was no big deal at all, and it was easy.

My finance lined up and she did it on her first try, and she was the nervous one. "High-Fives All Around"

As a guy I have to say, this was so cool !

The whole day was amazing I messed up a few more times, but Jay just jumps in for a moment, gives it a little fix and back I go to work . For the most part I did everything, but with Jay’s help the ring I made for her was flawless. And my shy girl ending up making a beautiful wedding ring. I have to say she did so amazing.
