Common Questions

Q: What metals can we choose for our rings ?

A: The most popular precious metals - white gold, yellow gold (we only use 18k) and platinum.  We recently added fashionable .950 palladium.

Q: What is included in the cost ?

A:

  • Assistance in deciding on the design of your rings.
  • BOTH rings (up to 20 grams total weight).
  • A working lunch.
  • A bottle of champagne (but only when you’ve finished!)
  • A disposable camera documenting your day to take away for disbelieving friends.

Q: We have a particular design in mind. Can we make it ?

A: That depends on how detailed your custom design is. Send us an illustration and we’ll be able to tell you how feasible it is for you to make, and whether our jeweler will need to apply the final touches.

Q: What happens if we make a mess of the rings ?

A: You can’t because our jeweler guides and helps you throughout the whole process.  That’s why we guarantee your rings will look as good as any ring you could buy that is custom-made by a professional.

Q: How long does it take to make both wedding rings ?

A: Most couples complete their rings in a leisurely 5 to 6 hours or so, working together on each other’s rings under the jewelers’ guidance.

Q: Can we have diamonds or other stones in our rings ?

A: Yes, but we can’t teach you stone-setting in a day, so you will leave the ring(s) with us for a few days after you’ve made them so we can professionally mount the stones.

Q: My grandmother has a ring she would like to give me. Could it be used as part of my ring ?

A: Yes, it can be attached as decoration or it can be melted and added. But it needs to be the same karat and alloy as the metal you choose for your rings.

Q: Can the rings be engraved ?

A: Yes, we can have your wedding date or a brief inscription of your choice added  in a day or two at no additional charge.

Q: May we take our rings away with us after we’ve made them ?

A: You certainly may - unless you’ve asked the jeweler to do some additional work such as setting stones or engraving, which will take a few days.

Q: Do we need an appointment to make our rings ?

A: Yes. Saturdays and Sundays always fill up first so, if you can only manage a weekend, you will need to book further ahead, contact us for scheduling.

Q: What does it cost ?

A: Click here for current prices

Q: Do you need a deposit to reserve a date ?

A: Yes. We ask for 20% booking fee by cash, check or credit card. This not only holds your appointment date, but also locks in the price quoted, regardless of how far ahead your appointment may be, or what happens to the price of precious metal in the interim.
